DAILY DEVOTION No 36

                             BLACK OR WHITE?

John 1:6&7 - "There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all men might believe through Him."

1. THE MISSION

John had a mission. He had a purpose to be a witness, to be seen, to be heard and to testify about the light. What is the light? John 1:4 says, “In Him was life and that life was the light of men, and the light shines in darkness”. In Him was life! We are witnesses of His Son. Jesus Himself is the light. You and I must give testimony about the benefits of coming to Him for eternal life. It is not about just getting me out of hell and into heaven, but about living a victorious Christian life.

2. SEPARATION

V:5  The Light shines in darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it (understand it or overcome it). The book of John is a book of striking contrasts, light and darkness, truth and falsehood, good and evil, life and death. Jesus said, “ I came not to send peace but a sword.” He came to send a sword through every peace that is not based on a personal relationship to Himself. John’s authority was in the fact that he was sent from God. To reach the people around us, our testimony must ring true. We must not compromise our stand in any way.

3. VISION

John’s vision was, that all men might believe through Him. Is your vision that all men might be saved? John had seen who Jesus was. He had an intimate relationship with Him.  You and I have a mission. We must not let age, circumstances, time or money affect the vision. We have been sent from God to be a witness… that we might testify to the Light, that all men might believe. We are to shine as lights before a wicked generation.

Challenge

Are you going to shine for Jesus? Are you going to neglect the mandate presented to us by Jesus? Will you remain totally separated from the standards of this world?

Prayer

Lord, help me to be a witness for You. Help me to uncompromisingly take the message of the Gospel and to a world that desperately needs God.
