DAILY DEVOTION No. 48

    A BLAMELESS LIFE

Psalm 101:2-4

2 I will be careful to lead a blameless life - when will you come to me? I will walk in my house with blameless heart. 3 I will set before my eyes no vile thing. The deeds of faithless men I hate; they will not cling to me. 4 Men of perverse heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with evil.

1. I Will Lead A Blameless Life

People of this world are quick to pick up hypocrisy in our lives. We must always keep watch over our lives to make sure that people can't point the finger at anything. To be blameless means integrity in every sector of our lives - in our work place, in the schools or universities, or wherever we may be. We must be true to the standards and principles we profess. We cannot profess one set of standards and then live by a completely different set of standards.

Colossians 3:17 says 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. In other words, there must not be anything that we do or say that will bring the name of Jesus into reproach.

In 1 Thessalonians 1 we read about how the Christians in the thessalonian church were an example to other Chistians. It says 7 And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 The Lord's message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia - your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it.

2. I Will Walk In My House With Blameless Heart

Your family wants to see that you are real and live by your convictions. Your children when they are young will copy your actions and what you say. There must be no compromise of standards otherwise our families will see us as false and we will lose all respect in their eyes. They must see that we are people of prayer and the Word. There must be no falsehood about us whatsoever.

3. I Will Set Before My Eyes No Vile Thing.

What we watch will eventually affect the way we live. If we continue to look at things that are bad for our spirit we will start to take on board those things and they will eventually affect our behaviour.
David understood what impact upon us there is when we look at things that will entertain the carnal man within us. Apart from what he says here, he also says in Psalm 119:137 37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.

Guard your eyes zealously because your inner life is affected by the things you focus on. Dwell only on things that are pleasing to the Lord.

4. The Deeds Of Faithless Men I Hate; They Will Not Cling To Me.

To be a person of righteousness means hating sin but loving the sinner. To align ourselves with God's heart means to completely renounce all iniquity and to keep ourselves from anyone or anything that will affect us spiritually.

Prayer

Father, help me to live a life that is blameless before you and those around me. Help me to constantly guard my eyes and not make alliance with anyone that hates Your ways.
